1.年份
關於四位數年份的讀法有下列幾種情形：
1）一般情況下，將表示年份的四個數字按前後分為兩組，每一組的數字都按基數詞來讀。例如：
1865年讀作 eighteen sixty-five
1998年讀作 nineteen ninety-eight
2）如果前兩個數字為非“零”數字，後兩位數分別為“零”，則先讀出前兩位數，然後將後面的兩個“零”讀為 hundred。例如：
1900年讀作 nineteen hundred
1800年讀作 eighteen hundred
3）第三個數字為“零”（其他數字不是“零”）的年份的讀法應當將該“零”讀為O〔u〕。例如：
1809年讀作 eighteen O nine
4）關於千年的一些讀法。
2000年讀作 two thousand
2008年讀作 two thousand and eight（或twenty O eight）
1008年讀作 one thousand and eight（或ten O eight）
